FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
Matt Shannon is a fine art landscape and nature photographer living on Vancouver Island. He spends most of his time exploring the wild, hiking and camping with his camera close-by. It was Vancouver Island's beauty which first inspired him to choose a career in photography. After graduating high-school in New Brunswick he ventured westward across Canada until he reached Vancouver Island - for 13 years he has called the Island home. Matt captures images of the wild coast, giant trees, and epic mountains he skilfully and artfully portrays their splendor as if it were his first time seeing them again.
Matt has been a published photographer specializing in landscape, travel and tourism photography for ten years. He teaches photography and hosts adventure photography workshops. Please inquire directly if you are interested in a photograph that is not displayed in the store.
Each order is custom printed by a fine art lab to the highest quality standard. Orders will take several weeks to have ready for pickup or shipped. I started following Matt's work on Instagram about 18 months ago because it was so compelling and beautiful. Right before Christmas 2020, Matt posted a photo he took in the Canadian Rockies called 'Polar Express'. It's a photo of a CP Rail train making its way through the Rockies and it was stunning! It reminded me of my dad because he worked for CP Rail for more than 30 years, so I knew I had to have a copy of this print. I reached out to Matt and got an immediate response from his wife and business partner, Hayleigh. We decided on the print size, as well as how it should be framed. Matt and Hayleigh handled all the details and then let me know when it was available to pick up. To say the result is stunning is an understatement - the print is absolutely gorgeous and the colours work so well in my new home. I highly recommend Matt's work! In addition, it was an absolute pleasure dealing with Matt and Hayleigh ... I'll be purchasing more framed prints in the very near future! Matthew's photos are truly one of a kind. He manages to capture the beauty of a scene in such a way that you feel you are standing beside him as the shutter clicks. If I had more wall space, I'd have 10x as many of his prints! Instead, I've bought gift certificates for family so they can purchase my favorites for their own homes! |
I really could not let this year pass without a huge thank you to Matt. He captured our favourite place on Vancouver Island (East Sooke Park), and created a stunning photo, that we now have in our home. While many of us are unable to travel this year, it is a joyful reminder of the incredible beauty of BC. Thank you Matt for your creations. We hope to see you for an adventure next year! I am so very impressed with the print that I ordered from Matt Shannon! He was so responsive to what I wanted and went the extra mile to achieve the perfect photo from his collection that would be best for my needs!
