IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to the recent COVID restrictions, this Multi Day Workshop has been canceled.
Where: Port Renfrew and surrounding area There will be a NEW SURPRISE forest location introduced at this workshop for the first time (logistics and welcome package will be provided 1-2 weeks prior to the workshop) Date: Friday, May 7 - Sat, May 9, 2021 Who : For Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced Photographers. Note, this workshop is field based and does not include indoor activities like image processing due to COVID restrictions (may change over time). Welcome to our 2-DAY "Wild Renfrew Workshop Weekend" located around the beautiful Port Renfrew area. This workshop will take a "contemplative" approach where
anything goes in nature, landscape, wildlife, & aerial photography. We won't know what we will do, but we will do lots!!!
During this workshop we will explore whatever naturally comes our way in nature. That being said, we will explore areas in nature photography such as:
* MACRO
* SEASCAPES
* FORESTSCAPES
* LONG LENSES for LANDSCAPES
* INTENTIONAL CAMERA MOVEMENT (ICM's)
* STOCK and LIFESTYLE
* DRONE / AERIAL DEMONSTRATIONS
Both Dave & I have a wide range of skills so just about anything goes when it comes to nature photography and exploring John Dean Provincial Park.
Note, both Matt and myself are Nikon users (Dave uses a Z7 as primary and I use a Nikon D850) but this workshop is helpful for any camera brand.
Please bring your CAMERA MANUAL if you are unsure where to change settings on your camera!

Hiking details:
A general physical fitness is required with light to medium amounts of walking / light hiking (no mountains to cross). Port Renfrew is full or short to medium length hikes and is well suited to this type of photography with ample subject matter to explore & create images. Lodging Details: Web site for booking the WEST COAST TRAIL LODGE is https://wildrenfrew.com/ Contact details in case something doesn't work Katie Nott, [email protected], 250-647-5541 ext 1 What IS included: - photography instruction - instructors from two experienced photographers that specialize in nature, commercial and aerial photography - demo LEE Photography filters (and step up rings) - demo FLM Canada tripods - F-Stop Gear backpack discount code for registered participants What is NOT included: - transportation to and from Port Renfrew and while in Port Renfrew (about 1-1/2 hrs drive from Victoria). Note, neither Dave or myself are able to drive clients due to insurance restrictions. - your personal items and camera gear - lodging at the West Coast Trail Lodge and meals are not included. Note, at time of writing, it is imperative that participants come to Port Renfrew prepared with some meals, water, & full tank of gas. The Renfrew Pub is open but with limited hours til 6pm only on weekends. Again this may change by May. What to BRING: - camera body (preferably a camera that is a DSLR or mirrorless where all settings can be changed manually) - memory cards (depending on the size you have) - wide angle lens such as 14-30mm (or close to it) - mid range zoom such as 24-70mm or 24-105/120mm - 105mm macro lens if you have one - lens filters (bring what you have but DO NOT buy anything for the workshop. You will learn what to get at the workshop itself) - camera bag (at least water resistant) - camera rain cover - lens clothes - water bottle - rain pants - rain jacket - warm jacket / heavy sweater - hiking boots - rain cap or hat that is waterproof - tripod (a big bonus to get tack sharp images) - pen and small note pad for camera bag Payment & Cancellation Policy: - price $995 Cdn + 5% GST - workshop is held rain or shine - no refunds for inclement weather - liability waiver must be signed prior to workshop - no refunds for the workshop portion unless we are able to fill your spot, then a refund is given less a $75 + GST admin fee. There are no refunds given for any other reason. Trip cancellation insurance is recommended for your workshop fee. Please call our insurance representative if you wish to insure you workshop fee.
